Hydro-meteorological hazards, like floods and droughts, have been recognized as the principal cause of human deaths within the natural hazards sector of death producing events. In addition to hydro-meteorological hazards, global climate change has been recognized as a major threat to mankind survival as a species. To recognize these facts is a step forward in acting to mitigate the effects of both phenomena that affect every single person living on planet Earth.
